Eco Club update

Lat year we held a Plastic Free Day, and were interviewed by Swansea Bay TV

We have decided to go for the Eco Schools Green Flag Award, and are busy undertaking an Environmental Review, putting together an Action Plan, and gathering evidence. Watch this space!

Eco Club Update

We have a busy couple of months!

We had a recycling assembly for the whole school, and were visited by Sammy the Seagull, who helped us decide what items to recycle and which bag to put them in.

We encouraged the whole school to get involved with the Big School Spring Clean, and every class did a litter pick in or around the school.

The Eco Club wanted to take it one step further and so we did a Beach Clean, the children were amazed at the amount of plastic litter and micro plastics that they found on the Beach.

We attended an Eco Brick workshop in the National Waterfront Museum, and will share what we have learnt with the rest of the classes.

We now collect empty crisp packets for recycling, as well as batteries and writing implements.

All our events have spurred us on to do a Plastic Free Day in School. Children were invited to choose reusable alternatives to single use plastic in their lunchboxes, and we had the school milk delivered in glass milk bottles, instead of the plastic containers.

The Eco Club was interviewed by Bay TV about our Plastic Free Day, and what the school is doing to encourage pupils and staff to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.

Eco Update

We have had a busy week this week in Eco Club.

We made Vegan Bird Seed Balls, and discussed the forthcoming  Big School Clean Up, when we hope to do a litter pick on the beach.

We will be taking part in the No Single Use Plastics Day, and decided to survey the amount of single use plastics used at lunch time this week, and compare this to the amount on the day itself, and hopefully see a reduction.

Eco Club 11/10/18

We had a lovely turn out at Eco Club this week.

We have 12 places available for our visit to the bailing plant in a couple of weeks. If your child is interested please return the form by noon on Friday. Sorry but this trip is only open to KS2 pupils. If we have more names than places we will do a random draw.
We have started to recycle writing implements such as pens, highlighters, correction fluid. If you have any at home please send them in.
We are having a Rags4Riches collection in November so please save clean old clothes and bedding.
We continue to recycle used batteries, so please send your old ones to the school office.
Finally we had lots of great ideas from the children about what they would like to do in Eco, such as litter picks, recycled crafts and finding out about plastic pollution.
They are a great bunch of future Eco Warriors♻😊
