Diarrhoea & Vomiting – The guidance from the NHS is – Anyone with symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting should stay at home and not attend school or nursery settings until 48 hours after symptoms have resolved.
Playworks – After School Club – We currently have space available in our After School Club. Playworks Brynmill After School Club runs Monday – Friday from the end of the school day until 5.45 pm. Children attending the club are provided with a healthy and nutritious buffet style afternoon snack in line with the Welsh Assembly Guidelines for Healthy Eating. The children are offered a variety of activities including, group games, art and craft cookery and outdoor play. The club is registered with The Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). Parents/ Carers maybe eligible to access help towards their childcare costs to check eligibility contact HMRC directly. One of our PTA members, Hannah Marvelley will be running the London Marathon this weekend, to raise funds for the Children’s Legal Centre Wales, based at Swansea University. Reception children – The school nurses will be with us on Wed 26th for Height, Weight & Vision Checks, (rescheduled from the snow day).
School Start Time – Just a reminder that school starts at 8.50am with the gates opening at 8.40am. We are seeing an increase in parents who are frequently late, and therefore their children are missing approximately an hour, to an hour and a half of school a week. Please be on time.
School Finish Time – School finishes at 3.20pm, with the younger classes coming out a few minutes earlier. If you know you are unavoidably late, please contact us so we can reassure the children that you are on your way.

Family Film Night:
Thank you so much to everyone who attended the Family Film Night at Swansea University a few weeks ago. You helped raise a brilliant £167.50 for the PTA fund! Massive thanks to the team at Swansea University for hosting the event, they are in process of planning another screening for Caswell and Oxwich pupils and parents over the coming weeks. We’ll share details as soon as we can.
Easter Egg Trail:
Join us for an Easter egg trail around Brynmill Park Tuesday 4th 10am!
Starting point The Hide, collect your sheet and pencil to write down your findings and begin the search for 10 eggs hiden around the park. The race is on for a chance to win a prize for the 3 fastest times!
While you wait for the results to be announced 12pm there will be an Easter arts and crafts table set up in The Hide alongside a tea and coffee stand with delicious baked goods for sale.
£1 per child, every contestant will get chocolate eggs (‘free from’ chocolate available) a cup of squash and a biscuit. Hope to see you all there for some Easter fun!

Routine Appointments Where ever possible please make routine appointments such as Dentist, Opticians etc. out of school time. If this is not possible, please make them for late afternoon, and arrange to collect your child early from school. If your child does have an appointment in the morning they should attend school after the appointment.
Achievements – We love to celebrate children’s achievements, and if they have any achievements out of school for sport, music, drama etc. please ask them to bring in their certificates and/or medals etc, so that they can have a leaf of our achievement tree or have their photo displayed in our Hall of Fame.

Volunteers Please -We’d like to be able to gather some volunteers monthly to help maintain the garden, plant pots and yard generally. Duties would include weeding, general plant maintenance, sweeping the yard etc. Organised by a member of the Moss family, the maintenance would be carried out after school hours and/or on the weekends.

Strike Day Postponed – The planned strike on Tuesday 14th February has been postponed, school will be open as normal.
Universal Free School Meals
We are pleased to announce that the Local Authority’s Catering Department will be rolling out free school meals to all year 1 pupils after February half term. Please note this will be automatic and there will be no requirement to apply for the meals. They aim to roll out to further year groups as soon as possible and will update you on our progress in due course.

Reminders
Medicines – All medicines should be stored in the school office. If you child requires medication please contact the office to complete our medicine form.
Sickness – Vomit and or Diahorrea – In line with current guidelines, if your child vomits or has diahorrea they should stay away from school for 48 hours after the last episode, to avoid spreading germs to other children.
Change of address – If you have moved home in the last few months, please provide proof of your new address, such as a Council Tax Bill, Utility Bill, Driving Licence, or Tenancy agreement. Thank you
Dinner Monies – Just a little reminder that school dinners should be paid for in advance, please ensure that you have enough in your sQuid Account ( Dinner Money Purse) to pay for the week’s meals. You are able to set up an auto top up to ensure you never run out of funds. ( If you set up auto top up and you get a new debit card, please log in to your account to update your card details)
Birthdays – We are happy to help your child celebrate their birthday with their classmates. If you would like to send in cake, please make sure it is in the form of small individual cakes such as fairy cakes or mini rolls etc. Unfortunately we are unable to accept any large cakes which have to be sliced into smaller portions, gift bags or party decorations. Please check with the class teacher before hand as there may be children with dietary requirements in the class to take into account.

Collecting children at lunchtime – We know that making appointments such as medical or dental ones can be difficult to arrange out of school hours.
If you do need to, please can you ensure that the school office is made aware of appointments ahead of time, as sometimes it can be challenging to ensure that pupils have finished lunch or are between lunch, the yard and the toilet etc. Thank you for your support with this.
