It's Easter
Hello from Criw Cymraeg 2020/2021
Hi everyone,
We will be posting a feature that we will call ‘The latest Welsh pattern & phrase’. We’d really like you all to try using the latest pattern and phrase and to help your child practice too. Diolch.
Cross Country Team update
Our cross country team is going from strength to strength. Here is a summary of our recent 2nd round fixture!
So we won’t know the final team positions until after the final round which is usually in the first few weeks after half term. However, it was a really good performance today in very cold and windy conditions. There will be training as normal on Wed still.
Girls positions: 6th Nia; 9th Masha; 10th Eva-Lily; 14th Lara D; 25th Rhiannon ; 36th Emily .
Boys: 11th Daniel; 14th Jack; 15th Noah; 16th Cody; 20th Theo; 27th Iolo.
Great work all around, smiles as well – I think they enjoyed it!
Here are some photos from the competition, kindly taken by Mrs Sullivan, whilst I was huddled in coats (!)

Here are some photos of our hardworking Club in action, in the hail, wind, rain, all with a smile too! Thanks to Mrs Sullivan for the photos.
Eco Club update
Lat year we held a Plastic Free Day, and were interviewed by Swansea Bay TV
We have decided to go for the Eco Schools Green Flag Award, and are busy undertaking an Environmental Review, putting together an Action Plan, and gathering evidence. Watch this space!
E Safety Update
In readiness for our next Internet Safety workshop planned for the New Year, we wanted to update parents and ask for your help shaping the next event. From some recent conversations with parents, we are aware of the same issues cropping up such as:
- use of social media Apps such as WhatsApp (16 yrs) , Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok and Facebook (13 yrs) and how pupils are using this irresponsibly with regards sharing information, groups and media.
- Use of online platforms and games with inbuilt messaging (Roblox, Youtube, Minecraft) without parental monitoring.
- Safe and responsible searches on the internet.
Please click the link below to give your opinion of any other issues you would like us to cover at our next workshop using the simple link below:
On a related note, we are mindful of the many ways that we communicate to you – however, we are also aware that there are times when these messages still do not appear to reach our intended audience:
- Newsletters posted on our website. (Link ) or search Brynmill J2bloggy.
- Secure posts and messages sent on Class Dojo (please check you are signed in and connected using the app)
- Paper letters and notes (please check your child’s bag!)
- Emails, calls and texts (please check we have an up to date contact number/ email)
- Twitter news promoting our school and linked services like Hwb. (@brynmillschool) , check the feed on the right.

Cross Country training 23/10/19
Well done on another good week everybody! This week we concentrated on good technique by doing some hill sprints. Then we did our H shaped time trial as a mixed event to get an idea of times. I think it was a bit shorter than last week. Great effort all round – they really are improving .

First Cross Country Race 2019
Well done to the team on their first race at Cwm Level Park!
So proud of all who raced today. Such a great experience for them. They had lots of questions about who won etc:
There are 3 rounds of races, the next two being in February and March.
The lower the overall team score the more chance of going through to the Area Final.
Anyone coming 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any of the races usually goes through automatically.
So a team coming 1,2,3,4,5 and 6th has lowest points and goes through.
Girls: 7, 8, 9, 10, 25, 27
Boys: 9, 13, 15, 19, 20, 23
