Why does my school practice fire drills and lock down drills?
Being Ready for Emergencies: Practicing helps us all know what to do quickly and safely if there’s ever an emergency.
Knowing the Steps: Regular drills make sure everyone knows the right steps to take and where to go, so no one gets confused.
Feeling Confident: When we practice, we feel more confident and less scared, knowing we can handle anything that happens.
Keeping Everyone Safe: Our top priority is making sure everyone stays safe, and these drills help us do that.
Following Safety Rules: Schools need to follow safety rules, and practicing these drills is an important part of keeping our school a safe place for everyone.
How do schools prepare children for fire drills and lock down drills?
*Fire drills/ evacuation drills. We practice evacuating the building, so that we all know what to do in the case of an emergency, where people would be safer outside the building than inside.
*Lock down/invacuation drills. We practice invacuation/lock down drills so that we all know what to do in the case of an emergency, where people would be safer inside the building than outside.
